PAUL MALONE, PRESIDENT

Over the past 20 years, Paul has contributed his skills to a variety of residential projects, from conventional tract home developments to intergenerational mixed-use co-housing communities. With this broad and varied experience, Paul recognizes that traditional home building is often plagued by unnecessary costs and inefficient processes. By championing innovative, resourceful community design and meticulous management, he seeks to minimize these difficulties and help people connect with their first home or their forever home.

More than a great product in a great location, though, Paul knows that successful development and construction is the product of a well-sourced and collaborative team. With in-depth industry knowledge of nearly all aspects of construction and development, from site acquisition and entitlements to estimating and value engineering to project management and onsite supervision, he is ideally positioned to support and guide his team to future success.

Together with his wife Krissy, Paul is now embarking on the new challenge of designing and building their dream home abroad. Never complacent or willing to rest on his laurels, Paul is always searching for the next exciting project, for the next chance to transform a neighborhood, for the next opportunity to shape the future of his community.

CLAY IMAN, DEVELOPMENT PARTNER

Clay is an entrepreneur at heart; he is enthusiastic, driven, and passionate about development in Colorado and beyond. Clay is excited to join the Highland Development team for myriad reasons, including having the ability to build on the success of what’s already a strong creative and entrepreneurial culture at HDC and the company’s continued prospects for growth. Clay is passionate about thoughtful real estate development and building strong teams and a culture that supports collaboration, mentorship, and ingenuity. He looks forward to being a part of a team of smart, principled professionals that ardently adheres to the company’s core values and to advancing its strategic vision.

Prior to joining HDC, Clay Iman was the Managing Director for Wood Partners’ operations based in the Denver and Chicago offices, overseeing development in Colorado, Illinois, and Utah. Prior to joining Wood Partners, he held various roles in acquisitions, private equity, and investment banking. Clay graduated with highest honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a B.S. in finance and performed juris doctorate coursework at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

Clay describes himself as a big family person. He and his wife Jill live in Denver, where they are raising their two daughters. They enjoy the outdoors, sports, reading, and traveling.

MICHAEL MARTINES, CEO

From his work at Greystar to the 2009 founding of Martines Palmeiro Construction, Mike brings 20 years of Front Range multifamily construction experience to Highland Development Company.

A keen sense of curiosity and strong problem-solving skills bolster his commitment to getting development right in the conceptual stage. With roots in a developer-builder organization, Mike prioritizes accurate pricing from schematic design through construction documents and believes the best way to design a project is through a continuous dialogue between the design and estimating teams.

A key contributor to Highland Development Company’s visioning and strategic planning efforts, Mike also focuses on deal structuring and maintaining financial investment relationships. His comprehensive knowledge of the intricacies of both financing and construction makes him an invaluable asset in the underwriting process.

After graduating with his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Mike relocated to Colorado. Drawing inspiration from their travels abroad, he and his wife, Danielle, recently conquered the challenge of designing and building their dream home in Denver. When he’s not closing deals or overseeing the construction of multi-million-dollar projects, Mike enjoys fishing, taking to the skies in his plane, and cheering on his sons, Dylan and Ian, at their baseball games.

TONY LAJIMODIERE, CFO

As Chief Financial Officer and a member of Highland Development Company, Tony provides leadership and coordination of the finance, administration, risk management, and human resource functions of HDC. This includes budgeting and strategic planning, ensuring accurate financial reporting, cash management, and monitoring a comprehensive set of controls and procedures designed to mitigate risk.

Tony also works closely with operations leadership and HDC’s accounting staff to implement the most current technology available to our industry. This includes embracing mobile technology, cloud-based systems, and construction payment management. He focuses on building strong relationships with industry experts, in both development and subcontracting entities, through continuous communication and consistently striving to
exceed expectations.

Tony holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northern Michigan University and has worked in the field and in various industry service providers his entire career. He and his wife have been Denver residents since 2007 and are proud parents to twin daughters.

MIKE MYLO, CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Mike began his career in the construction industry as a field engineer and spent the following years working his way through the general contractor ranks to the role of senior project manager. After honing his skills in the realm of construction, he moved on to the development side working as a construction manager/owner’s representative for real estate development firms like East West Partners, Wood Partners, and Greystar.

Mike graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from the University of Denver and brings 35 years of project management experience working on numerous types of commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects to the HDC team.

As the construction manager with HDC, Mike makes use of a diverse construction and project management background to better prepare and manage construction projects from their beginnings to completion. Mike takes great pride in working hard to find optimized project solutions for all key development and project stakeholders.

When he’s not in the office, Mike enjoys playing golf, cooking, and exploring the history and architecture of old towns and villages with his wife, Cindy.
